THEY ARE HERE…
The INVASION is a mixture of visual spectacle and interaction between audience and actors, based on non-verbal physical theater and site-specific live compositions. The main focus of the performance is examining questions of multicultural societies and the conventions of behavior in the public space. Through a light and playful narrative (pink intergalactic immigrants from outer space accidentally landing on our planet) we are inviting the audience to actively confront their own personal xenophobia.
The performance is constantly testing the border between fiction and reality with a goal to establish theatre performance as a game, a ritual and a social event. Every alien has his own story, his own way of communicating and challenges the public in a different way.
The project was developed as a co-production with La Strada Festival of Graz and supported by IN SITU (European network for artistic creation in public spaces). Since its premiere in Graz, August 2008, the aliens appeared on more than 90 international festivals in 31 countries: Bat Yam International Street theatre Festival (Israel; 2009), Belaya Vezha (Brest, Belarus; 2010), Arkhangelsk Theater Festival (Russia; 2011), Black and White Theater Festival (Finland; 2011), Stockholm Festival of Culture (Sweden; 2011), Yeosu World Expo (South Korea; 2012), Sibiu International Theatre Festival (Romania,2013), Galway International Festival of Arts (Ireland, 2014), FETA festival (Gdansk, Poland, 2015), Girovagando (Sassari, Italy, 2017), etc.
